Project Background:
The Nanhu Water Reclamation Plant sources water from Xiaonan Lake, a large water body formed by long-term discharge of mine drainage. Due to Ningxia’s arid climate with high evaporation rates, the lake’s water quality is characterized by extreme hardness (>5,000 mg/L), high salinity (18,000–26,000 mg/L), low temperature, and low alkalinity. Ensuring stable water supply for power plants—particularly during Ningxia’s harsh winter—posed significant challenges for treatment and operational reliability.
Project Outcomes:
The upgraded system employs a process chain of screening + ozone oxidation + coagulation-sedimentation (hardness removal) + filtration + ultrafiltration (UF) + reverse osmosis (RO). The treated water meets the GB50050-2007 Industrial Circulating Cooling Water Design Code standards for reclaimed water reuse in indirect open cooling systems. Annual supply capacities include:
Guohua Power Plant Phase II: 2.341 million tons/year
Fangjiazhuang Power Plant: 391,600 m³/year
Yinxing Power Plant: 2.508 million tons/year
