Project Background:
Xingqing District, located in the arid northwestern inland of China, faces severe water scarcity—a critical "bottleneck" restricting local economic development. As a major enterprise in the region, Baofeng Group Hongsi Coal Industry Co., Ltd. has alleviated regional water stress by constructing a water treatment system to reclaim and reuse mine water. This initiative achieves a harmonious balance between industrial growth and regional water resource conservation.
Project Outcomes:
Through advanced water-saving upgrades, Hongsi Coal Mine now treats high-salinity mine water to meet Surface Water Class III standards. A portion of the treated water is reused for production and domestic purposes within the facility, while the remainder is transported via dedicated pipelines to Baofeng Ranch for agricultural irrigation, creating a "secondary water source." By maximizing the use of unconventional water sources (mine water), the project resolves freshwater supply shortages for coal operations and mitigates regional water scarcity.
